There are many ways you can treat any form of yeast infection from the comfort of your own home, whether you are male or female. A lot of cures come from herb and plant extracts and here is a lost of ones you can try that are cheap, simple and effective.

1. Coconut Oil
Great for skin yeast infections, just run it on the sore area and it will soothe any discomfort and itching. You can also consume it, take two spoons a day. Unfortunately for some coconut oil can cause loose bowel movements so do not eat a lot of it and if you have such a reaction, stop taking it.

2. Lime Juice
Can be used as a douche for a vaginal yeast infection or if it is a penile infection you are treating wash the penis with it. You can also wet a cotton ball with it and dab on the infection. The itching, redness and soreness will be relieved as the lime juice helps get rid of the fungus.

3. Oregano
The leaves have an oily juice that will kill the yeast. Either buy oregano oil from a natural health store or get fresh oregano and crush the leaves. Rub it on the skin for quick and effective results.

4. Garlic
Has anti fungal properties so is a perfect yeast infection treatment. Crush some cloves and paste them up and spread onto the infection. If you have a vaginal yeast infection, wrap it in cheesecloth and insert it into the vagina.

5. Apple
To be used for Thrush or oral yeast infection. All you need to do is eat more of it!

6. Green Tea
Two glasses a day to treat an oral yeast infection and to help prevent an infection of the throat. This is more effective when the infection has only just started showing signs, and is great as a preventive measure.

Does Monistat Effectively Treat Your Yeast Infection?

Monistat is just one of the many medicated over the counter treatments a sufferer of a yeast infection can choose. But with the rise of Candida infections and so many looking for alternatives it is a good idea to question just how effective it is.

Most women have had a yeast infection or will get one at some point in their lives. They are uncomfortable, painful and embarrassing and can have a large impact on your day to day life. Symptoms range from common physical signs localized around the infection such as itching, discharge, an odor, burning and redness to more general things like migraines, aching joints, fatigue, bowel problems, to mental issues such as depression, poor memory and so much more.

Other treatments apart from over the counter options are prescription drugs from your doctor and natural remedies. Monistat is a very popular choice amongst those that choose over-the-counter options but you should be aware of some things before you use it.

Monistat comes in three strengths depending on the severity of your infection. Monistat 1 is a one day treatment ovum, Monistat 3 involves applying for three nights and Monistat 7 you use it for seven nights. As will all drugs there are possible side effects to using it and you should carefully read what is in it and what possible side effects could ensue.

One ovum is inserted each night before you go to sleep deep into the vagina. Some women complain of a burning painful sensation that lasts a long time, some also report bleeding, and tummy pains. Side effects do differ between each person. For some Monistat works, and causes no problems, for others it is ineffective and has nasty side effects. That is why more are using natural remedies instead.

If you are unsure talk to your doctor, and if you do take the course of treatment and the yeast infection is still there at the end of it you need to see a doctor then too.
